Camp Ins

Webelos Scouts
Engineer
5:00PM - 9:00AM

Webelos Scouts are invited to spend an exciting night at Sloan Museum while working on their Engineering Badge in the Technology Activity Group. Boys will discover how things work while doing hands-on engineering projects like building a bridge, constructing electrical circuits, making a catapult and investigating block and tackle systems..

Camp-Ins will be held on the following date:
Mar 5, 2010

Junior Girl Scouts
Making it Matter
5:00PM - 9:00AM
Explore Sloan Museum after hours and participate in hands-on activities that will help scouts earn their Making It Matter badge. Girls will practice being engineers by building electrical circuits, experimenting with acids an dbases, designing bridges, talking simple appliances apart, and mixing their own polymers to take home.

Camp-Ins will be held on the following dates:
Mar 12, Apr 16 & Apr 30, 2010


Workshops

Brownie Girl Scouts

Building Art
1:00pm - 3:30pm
Girls will listen and learn about communities and the world built around them. Girls will complete the Building Art Try - It by building for the future, creating a neighborhood and discovering the strength of shapes and more.

Junior Girl Scouts

Local Lore
1:00pm - 4:00pm

Learn about our local history while participating in activities that will help Junior Scouts earn their "Local Lore" badge. Girls will learn about stories and events from Flint’s past. See what Flint looked like in the past and how it may look in the future. You may wish to plan time after the workshop to explore the museum on your own.

Troops can sign up now for this unique opportunity, held on the following date: Mar 20, 2010

Cadette/Senior Girl Scouts

Car Sense
Location: Buick Gallery
1:00pm - 4:00pm

Visit the Buick Gallery to see the world class collection of concept cars housed there. Participate in hands-on activities that will help Cadets and Senior Girl Scouts earn their “Car Sense” Interest Project. Girls will learn about basic car maintenance and safety, as well as finding out about the financial aspects of owning a car.

Cub Scouts

Map and Compass
1:00pm - 3:30pm

Cub Scouts are invited to explore maps, compasses, and Sloan Museum while participating in activities that will help them earn their Maps and Compass Belt Loop and Academics Pin. Boys will make a magnetic compass to take home, create their own map, and other hands-on mapping activities. You may wish to plan time after the workshop to explore the museum on your own.
